STUDY X And when Jesus entered Peter's house, he saw his mother-in-law lying sick with a fever. That evening they brought to him many who were oppressed by demons, and he cast out the spirits with a word and healed all who were sick. Mat 8:14-16 Here we see that Jesus cares. He never ignores our bodily infirmities and He is willing to heal us so that we can serve Him. Are you sick or in a problem,go to Jesus and seek His help. Why should you worry when you can pray to one who loves you and cares for you and has all power and authority? When Jesus saw the crowd around him, he instructed his disciples to cross to the other side of the lake. Mat 8:18 Why did Jesus leave the crowd yet they had come to Him? Because that were only interested in the miracles He performed for them, and not Him or His message. Are you like that crowd? Are only interested in what God will do for you and not His word or Himself? Christ and His message should be central, with or without the miracles. And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. Mathew 8:20 Why did Jesus call Himself the Son of man? He had completely identified himself with man. Son of man is simply, a normal human being. He was like man in every aspect and was tempted also like us so that He can be a merciful high priest who understands us in our weaknesses and temptations. Heb 2:17, 4:15 Therefore, it was necessary for him to be made in every respect like us, his brothers and sisters, so that he could be our merciful and faithful High Priest before God. Then he could offer a sacrifice that would take away the sins of the people. Y For since He Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted. Heb 2:17-18 When you are suffering, Jesus understands. When you are tempted, Jesus understands. Thus we can confidently go to Him for mercy and grace to help us in our time of sufferings or temptations. Have you seen the humanity of Christ? He is the son of man. Don't fear to go to Him no matter the temptation you maybe facing or whatever suffering you maybe going through. Even when you have failed Him numerously, He is a merciful high priest. Go to Him for mercy, go to Him for grace. He became like us and He understands us completely. He loves us perfectly, and He is always willing to give us mercy and grace for every trial, suffering or failure. Another of his disciples said, “Lord, first let me return home and bury my father.” But Jesus said to him, “Follow Me, and allow the dead to bury their own dead.” Mathew 8:21-22. Jesus will never accept a second position. He has to always be first. If you anything or anyone else before Him, He won't take that. The man said, let me first, that was His grave problem. Jesus has to be first in everything. He has to be first before our parents, siblings, friends, career, ministry, ourselves. He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything. Col 1:18 Do Jesus have first place in everything in your life? You can start now, ask Him to show you areas in your life where something else is first so that that you can set it right. Make Him to be first in the areas the Holy Spirit convicts about. He is willing to help you. Remember, He is our Merciful high priest. He will receive you again and help you to start again.
