SECRET OF GOD GUIDING YOU ALWAYS

We live in a world where there is darkness all over us. God has a plan for us which He desires us to fulfil and that is why we need His guidance throughout our lives. Looking around us we see many Christians who have completely missed Gods will and gone astray and this ought to bring an alarm in our hearts lest we also miss what God has for our lives.

Since as we have seen that it is possible to miss Gods will for our lives, we need to search the scriptures to see what it says on Gods guidance.

We read in Isaiah these words…and the Lord will guide you continually, and satisfy your desire in scorched places and give strength to your bones, and you will be like a well-watered garden and like a spring of water does not fail. Isa 58:11

Looking at the verse carefully, we see that it is when the Lord guides us that we are satisfied in drought and dry places, and our strength is restored. It is also the reason we will always be fresh and never dry and always bearing fruits.

Since the verse starts with ‘’and’’, we see it is a continuation of what was mentioned above and also a conclusion. Let us therefore look at the verses above to discover the secret of Gods continuance guidance.

Vs 10 says that one thing we are to do is to feed the hungry and help those in trouble. This will cause light to come where there was darkness concerning the will of God in any area.

But the verse also starts with “and” and therefore we need to also look at the previous verse since they also are connected.

Vs 9 says that IF WE REMOVE POINTING OF FINGER ( stop blaming others) AND SPEAKING WICKEDNESS, God will hear when we pray and when we cry he will answer speedily, ‘here I am’.

The verse starts with then and therefore takes us back to the previous verse;

Vs 8 says the light will break forth and healing will come speedily and your righteousness will go before you and the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.

We are also taken to verse 6 and 7 which are the beginning statements of all we’ve seen above and this is what they say;

Free those who are imprisoned by sin, to undo the yokes of bonds, to let the oppressed go free, to break every yoke, to share your food with the hungry, to bring the homeless poor in your house, to cover the naked and not to hide yourself from the needs of your own relatives

If we do the things mentioned above, the promise is the Lord will guide us continually, we will never be dry and we will always be fruitful.

Read carefully and meditate on each point and the Lord will give you light.

YOU WHO TEACH OTHERS, DON’T YOU TEACH YOURSELF

This is a statement found in Romans 2:21

It begins in verses 19-24; it speaks of people who are confident that they are a guide to the blind and a light to those who are in darkness. They think they can correct the foolish and teach children the ways of God. These people are certain that they have complete knowledge and truth gotten from Gods law.

Then comes the question, you who teach others, why don’t you teach yourself? You who tell others not to steal, do you steal? You who tell others not to commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You condemn idolatry, do you rob temples?

Looking at the examples above, we see that as good as teaching maybe, we should only teach what we have practiced, as it is written of Jesus in Act 1;1, HE BEGUN TO DO AND THEN TEACH, but the Pharisees TAUGHT BUT NEVER DID WHAT THEY TAUGHT. Mat 23:3

It is easy to condemn those who commit sexual sin, but before that, are you doing the same in your thought? Jesus says in Mat 5:28, if a man looks at a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. Stop lusting with your eyes and then only can you have authority to speak on the subject.

You may condemn those who murder the lives of others and be very disgusted with them, but do you do the same? The bible says that if you hate your brother in your heart, you are a murderer. I John 3:15. It doesn’t matter what the person has done to you, if you hate him/her you are a murderer and we know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.

You maybe condemning other believers because they may be wrong in one or two doctrines, but before that, you with your correct doctrine, is what you profess true in your inner life. Does your outer life match your inner life or are you a hypocrite. God does not look at the head but looks at the heart.

We see Solomon warning so much in proverbs about sexual sin Proverbs chapters 2,5,6,7 and other places, but reading his story we see that he fell in this same area that he warned others, 1Kings 11:3, and that is why we need to be much more careful to only correct or even teach others in the areas where we have judged ourselves first.

It was Saul who destroyed the witches in the whole land of Israel but at the end of his life he went to seek for a witch. Where he warned others, he also fell 1Sam 28:8-9. Judge yourself first before you warn others

Peter puts murders and thieves and evil doers and busybodies in other peoples matters in the same categories. Before you condemn evil doers, thieves and murderer, are you a busybody in other peoples matters, are you concerned about things that do not concern you? Judge yourself first, you are in the same category with evil doers. Learn to mind your own business first

There are numerous areas we can look at but the conclusion of the matter is, before you teach others, teach yourself first and correct others only in the areas you have judged yourself first

EVIDENCE OF TRUE REPENTANCE

Repentance refers to a change of mind. It is a turning away from my own ways to Gods ways. It is may also refer to changing ones value system and as someone has said, looking at things and life from Gods point of view.

The message of repentance has been neglected in many preaching yet without it, there can be no true conversion. Looking through the new testament quickly, we see that;

John the Baptist preached that people should repent for the kingdom of God is at hand. Mat 3:2, Mark 1:4

Jesus preached that people should repent for the kingdom of God is at hand. Mat 4:17, 9:13, Mark 1:15

Jesus sent his disciples to preach repentance; Mark 6:12

There is joy in heaven when one sinner repents; Luke 15:7,10

Before ascending to heaven, Jesus sent his disciples to go all over the world preaching repentance and forgiveness of sins in His name. Luke 24:47

The first gospel message after the day of Pentecost was that people should repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Acts 2:38

Paul preached both to Jews and non-Jews repentance towards God and faith towards Jesus Christ. Acts 20:21

The last message to five of the churches in Revelation chapter 2 and 3 is that they should repent.

We now see clearly the utter importance of the message of repentance, not only to sinners, but to the backslidden church and believers.

We also see that John demands that there should be fruits of repentance otherwise the axe is laid to the root of the tree to cut down everyone who does not bring the fruits of repentance. Mat 3:8-10

John explains also the purpose of his coming was to prepare the way of the Lord and make his straight. Luke 3:4-9

He explains that the valleys shall be filled- there is no room for depression and discouragement

He explains the mountain and hill shall be made low-that is there is no room for pride in one who has truly repented.

The crooked shall be made straight- that is the areas in our lives where there is crookedness shall be set right, e.g. story of Zacchaeus restoring everything that he had taken wrongfully. Luke 19:1-10

Rough ways shall be made smooth-that is the rough areas in our lives, the way we speak to people, the way we treat others shall be smoothened that we start speaking politely and treating others gently.

He explains that when this happens people will see that such a person has truly been saved. He also gave other practical things for people to do to show that they have truly repented in verse 10-14

Paul also writing to the Corinthians addressing the evil that was happening there writes in the second epistle telling them that he had seen that they had truly repented 2Cor 7:11. This is what he mentions as the mark that the Corinthian Christians had truly repented;

He says about their earnestness- that is seriousness,

concern to clear yourselves and set matters right that need to be set right,

indignation, that is hating the sin,

alarm- that is awareness of danger due to careless living,

a longing to see me, that is not running away from church but willingness to come back,

such zeal- that is fervent to accomplish something to the end

avenging of wrong- judging the wrong things in our lives and forsaking them

God even today expects us to bring fruit unto repentance.

CONSEQUENCES OF DISOBEDIENCE

Throughout the bible, God insists on this people obeying Him. The evidence that we love Christ is that we keep His commandments. John 14:15, 21. It is unfortunate the term obedience have been thrown away by many Christians claiming that in this time of grace, we do not need to obey God. Grace is taken as a license of sin as Peter and Jude warns. 2Pet 2, Jude 1

John explains that the evidence that we know God, and many claim so, is that we keep His commandments. 1John 2:3

We are also told in 2Cor 10:6 that we are only ready to punish all disobedience WHEN OUR OBEDIENCE IS FULFILLED.

Obedience is not an old testament word but rather is both a new and old testament word.

There are warnings that the bible gives concerning disobedience and we are going to see some of them.

Psalm 81:1316 exclaims; Oh that my people would listen to me and Israel had walked in my ways- I would quickly subdue their enemies and turn my hand against their adversaries, the haters of God would submit themselves to them, and would have been fed with the finest wheat, they would be satisfied by honey from the rock.

We see that overcoming our enemies, for our case the devil, the lusts of the flesh, the world and sin is dependent on our obedience to God. Whenever we are constantly defeated by any of these four enemies, we should ask ourselves where we are disobeying God.

Honey from the rock may refer to the sweet experiences we have with God in the difficult situations we face in life.

Isai 48:18, 19 also exclaims; if only my people had paid close attention to my commandments, then your peace would have been like a river and your righteousness as the waves of the sea. Your descendants would have been like the sand and their name would never have been cut off from My presence.

Here we see that the lack of constant peace and increasing righteousness in the lives of many believers is due to disobedience in some area. The lack of fruitfulness and backsliding of many converts also is due to disobedience. Therefore let us live in obedience to God and we’ll leave in constant peace and increasing righteousness.

Jer 5:25 boldly says, that your wickedness have deprived you of wonderful blessings and your sins have robbed you of all these good things.

I don’t think I can say it in any other way. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.
