MATHEW 14:35-15:20.THE MESSAGE OF THE GOSPELS

People recognised Jesus and they brought all the sick and as many touched Him they were healed. They begged Him to allow them touch Him and ask many touched Him they were healed.

Here we learn that it is when people don't recognise Jesus that they don't take all their burdens to Him. When people don't recognise that Jesus cares for every detail of their lives, and loves them and also is able to help them, they will not tell him all their problems.

Is there anything that is bothering you that you have not taken to Jesus?

All you told Jesus all that you are going through at home or in your place of work?

That debt that you have not repaid, have you told Jesus? That promise that you made and haven't kept, have you brought it to Jesus?

If there is something bothering you and you are yet to take it to Jesus in prayer, it is because you still have not recognised Jesus. You don't believe that He cares, you are not convinced that He is willing and able to help you. You are not sure that He loves.

Jesus cares about everything in your life, He is able and willing to help you out of every problem and situation that you are in, He loves you and will do it for you if you trust Him.

The Scribes and Pharisees accused Jesus' disciples of breaking the tradition of elders and Jesus replied to them, asking why they broke the commandments of God to keep the traditions of elders like washing your hands before eating.

Their priorities were wrong. Are you one who is very careful that you have to wash your hands before eating but are not careful to cleanse your heart? Do you sins that you have not confessed to God and forsaken them but are very careful to wash your body everyday? Washing your body is good that you don't stink before others, but cleansing your self from sins has greater value before God for you stink before God's face if you are living before God.

You maybe very careful to match your clothes from head to the toes, and it's important; but this is more important; that you match your inner life with your outer life. The impression that you give to people on Sundays, that it be a true reflection of the inner condition of your heart.

You may be getting hurt by others and mourn for days, but do you mourn when you hurt the heart of God? Let first things be first in our lives.

Oh that we may be disturbed by only the things that disturb God!!!

Pharisees taught that one should not help their parents financially; they said that the money they would have helped their parents they have given it to God, thus in this they Dishonored their parents.

They worshipped God in their mouths but their heart were from God. In vain did they worshipped teaching as commandments the traditions of men.

Are you one of them? Do you say things to God which you don't mean in your heart? Do you say to God that you love him? If you love Him, He says keep His commandments. Jn 14:15.

Do you say to God that you surrender all, then through the week going against the voice of your conscience?

Do you insist on things that men teach not on what the bible teaches? He says all such service to Him is in vain.

Jesus said to everyone that not what one eats that defile him but what comes from their hearts and the Pharisees got offended. Do you get offended like the Pharisees when you get corrected?

Prov 6:23b REPROOFS FOR DISCIPLINE ARE THE WAY OF LIFE

Prov 9:8b-9

Reprove a wise man and he will love you. Instruct the wise, and they will be even wiser. Teach the righteous, and they will learn even more.

He said that every plant that His Father did not plant will be uprooted. He mostly understand this verse to mean only the evil things; but it's more than this.... Even every good thing or idea from our clever mind that did not originate from God will be uprooted. It is like Ishmael, he was a good child, and healthy but God rejected Him because it was originally not God's idea but a bright idea from Sarah shared to Abraham.

If a blind lead the blind, both will fall in a ditch. That is we must seek God to open our eyes.

What comes from the heart first is EVIL THOUGHTS. This is the test where many fail because no one sees but only God. It's like saying to God that the opinion men have about us, our reputation is more important than what God thinks about us. When was the last time you asked God to forgive for having evil thoughts?

He continued to list murder, sexual immorality, theft, false witnessing and blasphemies as the thins that defile men.

MATHEW 13:54-14:34. THE MESSAGE OF THE GOSPELS

Jesus went to His hometown and taught and people were amazed and wondered where He got that wisdom and miraculous power.

We see see Here the teachings of Jesus were different from the teachings of scribes and Pharisees. They were full of wisdom and miraculous signs. People understood clearly what He meant. He explained the scriptures so simply that even the little children understood what He said and they were driven to respond positively. Here we learn that we must use simple words that all should understand not words that will 'go over the heads of the listeners'.

Since they saw Jesus grow up as little child, His family background, and everything from since He was young, they couldn't understand where He got the wisdom He had. They were offended and couldn't believe and for this reason Jesus couldn't perform many miracles there.

We see here that unbelief ties the hands of God. Are you one of them?

Is there something that God is willing to do for you but since you don't believe He can't do it for you?

In chapter 14, Herod heard about Jesus and thought that it was John the baptist who had been raised from the dead.

He arrested John for saying to him that it was unlawful for Him to take his brother's wife.

Are you like Herod, do you persecute and speak evil of others and tear down their reputation since they pointed out something wrong you did?

He had a party with his guests and promised his daughter to give whatever He desired since He danced well and pleased Him. She went and sought advice from her mother and they asked for the head of John and it were given them.

Here we learn that before you make a promise, consider the cost, and that not everyone can give you good advice. Be careful where you seek advice.

Jesus went on and people followed Him and He had compassion on them and healed them.

When you see people and their weaknesses, do you have a judgemental spirit or do you have compassion on them?

In the evening the disciples asked Jesus to tell the multitude to go away since they did not have food to eat but Jesus told them that they must feed them.

They said they only had five loaves and 2 fish and Jesus said the that that was enough. He took them and blessed them and broke them and gave His disciples who distributed to the multitude and they were all fed.

Even today Jesus looks at the people around us with compassion. Many are giving up, discouraged, bleeding and suffering. And He says to us His disciples, give them something to eat. We respond that we have no food except some few verses of the bible that we know, and Jesus says, bring it to me. He takes that word and breaks us and and give us that same word to us to bless others. If we are sensitive to the Holy Spirit, He will make us a blessing to people around us. The little thing that we know if we surrender it all to the Lord will be used by Him to lift up the discouraged, the weak, the needy and the suffering people around us.

When was the last time you encouraged someone? Everywhere the people we find most are those who discourage us.

Start from today, resign from the business of discouraging people and learn to encourage at least someone everyday.

A word of encouragement can do wonders.

Jesus insisted that His disciples get into the boat and cross the other side; and after dismissing the crowds, he went up the mountain up to pray alone.

I think the greatest challenge for us to pray is Jesus praying. If Jesus prayed, who are you not to pray? Are you stronger than Jesus? Are wiser that Jesus?

He prayed after feeding the multitudes. We should pray after God has blessed us and used us to bless others.

The disciples in the sea experienced waves. Remember that it was Jesus who insisted that that get into the boat, that means that they were not willing.

It's Just like God leading you to do something or go somewhere initially you never wanted to do. But the burden heavy in your heart you decide to obey God. When you obey God you experience winds. The winds does not mean you disobeyed God.

Just like the disciples experienced The miracle of the wilds being calmed, we will experience the same if the winds find us doing the will of God.

The first words He spoke to the disciples is be of good courage, do not be afraid.

God always encourages us and tells us not to fear the winds that come to us when we obey Him. If in the midst of the wind we experience you hear a voice that discourages you, you can be sure that is the voice of the enemy.

Every voice of discouragement is of the devil. God is called the God of all encouragement. 2Cor 1:3

Peter seeing Him asked Him to tell Him to come and Peter walked on water but when He looked at the waves, he begun to sink.

In the same way when our eyes are looking steadfastly on Jesus, we will walk above the storms of life without sinking in discouragement, but the moment we look at the storms, we will get discouraged.

Like Peter if you start sinking in discouragement and temptation to give up, cry out to God to help you and immediately you find deliverance. Don't seek silently, cry out to God, even in your heart He hears when you are unable to speak audibly.

When Jesus stilled the storm, all bowed down and worship; in the same way, when Jesus calms the storms in our lives, all who see will bow and worship God. That is why God allows people to see the storms that come in our lives

Heb 12:1-3 tells us that we need to run the race FIXING our eyes on Jesus the author and finisher of our faith. If we want to finish the race without getting discouraged or giving up, we need to give careful thoughts on all grievous opposition He experienced from sinful men.

Therefore, wherever you feel discouraged and feeling like giving up, be sure that at that moment you are not looking in Jesus. Isaiah 26:3 days that God keeps at perfect peace all whose mind is FIXED on Him. Stop looking at the circumstances of life, look at Jesus and you will be encouraged and your heart will be at peace.

You are blessed to be a blessing.

MATHEW 13:31-53. THE MESSAGE OF THE GOSPELS

Jesus continued His parables saying that the kingdom of God is like a man who planted a mustard seed in his land: it's the smallest but grew to be a tree where birds of the air came and settled. Comparing from the previous parable of the sower and the interpretation Jesus gave> see (Mat 13:4,19, Mark 4:4,15, Luke 8:5,12). We see that the birds of the air refers to demons.

He continued saying that the kingdom is like a woman who hid leaven in three measures of wheat and the whole lump got leavened.

Paul in 2Cor 5:6-8, and Gal 5:9 says that a little leaven leavens the whole lump. We should purge out the old leaven of malice (hidden desire to see other suffer) and wickedness. God desires sincerity and truth.

Thus we conclude from these two parables, that if we hide sin in our lives, it will grow and will destroy our whole Christian characters and finally we'll become a habitation of demons.

Therefore let us not hide sin but seek to find deliverance from it in our secret place.

IF WE DEAL WITH SIN PRIVATELY BEFORE GOD; HE WILL NOT EXPOSE US; but if we live in hypocrisy and harbour grudges and bitterness; and evil attitudes, one day they will grow and be manifest to all.

Let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of flesh and spirit.( Our inner wrong attitude and motives and outward evil actions)in the fear of God( since God is watching us and He will judge us in the last day)., as Paul exhorts us in 2Cor 7:1

The disciple asked Jesus the meaning of the parable of the tares Nd He explained to them. It's interesting as we'll see, that Jesus always answered whenever His disciples asked a question no matter how insignificant it seemed to be but not so with others. Let us seek to be disciples; and Jesus will answer our every question.

We saw earlier that a disciples is one who loves Jesus above everyone and above everything else, even his own life.

The wheat are the children of God and the tares are the children of the devil; and at the end of the age; the children of the devil (Vs 41> those who cause others to sin and those who live in sin. See also 1John 3:9-10) will be gathered and thrown in fire where there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

The righteous will shine forth like sun.

The kingdom of God is like a hidden treasure which a person found and in his excitement went and sold all that He had and bought that field.

It is also compared to a merchant seeking pearls and on finding one of great value, went and sold all that He had and bought it.

This shows the value of God's kingdom if you have truly found it: you will be excited and will be willing to lose everything for you to gain it. Paul says in Philippians 3:8 that he counted everything to be loss.

*Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ*

Have you found in your life that the most valuable thing you can do is having an intimate relationship with Christ where He is everything to you? May God open our eyes that we may see the value of things as God see ms them that we may have the right value system.

Jesus asked His disciples whether they understood the parables andd they say yes and He said to them that those who read and teach the bible, if they become disciples: that it to love Christ above everything else; God will give them revelations from what tey have already read and in other parts of scriptures as they continue to study God's word

MATHEW 13:10-17,24-30.

 THE MESSAGE OF THE GOSPELS

The disciples asked Him why He spoke in parables and He answered that to the disciples it was allowed for them to understand the secrets of the kingdom but to others it was not allowed.

This teaches us that for us to get the clear teaching of the scriptures, we must first become disciples then God will open our eyes to get the understanding otherwise we remain blind.

Whoever has will be added and one who has not even what he has will be taken away

In other words, if we obey the light we already have, God will give you more revelation but if you don't obey the light you already have, even that will be taken away.

No matter how many sermons you listen to if you are not obeying what you already know you ought to, you'll gain nothing. The danger is that the more you hear, the more your ears become heavy and eyes blind.

Blessed are those ears that hear and the eyes that see. Such revelations many old testament saints desired but were not given the privilege.

He told a parable of one who went and planted good seed but went to sleep and the enemy came and planted weeds.

This teaches that in our walk with Christ we cannot afford to be spiritually asleep. We must always be sensitive to God and watchful and sober. We must guard our devotion life jealously and must not allow the fire in the alter of our hearts to go out, or even cool off.

When asked whether the weeds should be pulled out He said not until harvest. That until judgment; God will reveal that day the true condition of everyone who says is a Christian and the wheat will be separated from the tares. Tares and wheat look so much alike; in the same way in the church; the Christianity of many is just on the outside form but not a transformed heart; there is no real devotion. Is your Christianity real or is it just an outward form without inner power?

Is the impression you give to people on Sundays reveal the true condition of your heart or is it different in other days?

You better hurry up and seek God that the inside of you; your heart and thoughts; be the same as the impression you give to others in church services.

MATHEW 12:22-50. THE MESSAGE OF THE GOSPELS

He see that demons can cause blindness and deafness and must be cast out for healing in such cases to occur.

People were amazed seeing this but Pharisees accused Jesus of using demonic power to cast out demons. They were jealous that they could not do what Jesus did and that He was becoming more popular than they.

Are you jealous when you find others doing what you are unable to do? Do you attribute a wrong motive when you see someone do something? Learn to appreciate when God uses others in ways that He doesn't use you.

Jesus explained that a kingdom divided against itself will not stand. His casting out demons by God's power symbolized coming of God's kingdom.

For you to enter a strong man's house and plunder, you first must bind him. That's why it's important to bind the demonic activities when doing evangelism.

When you are not actively with the Lord is against Him. There is no middle place.

All manner of sin can be forgiven except blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. Be very careful.

Make a tree good and automatically the fruit will be good. That is when your heart is full of evil, it will come out through the mouth and vice versa.

A good man out of the inner treasures of his heart produces good things and vice versa.

What you treasure in your heart comes through the mind. The mind is fed through the eyes and the ears. Therefore, what you expose yourself to, through reading and watching and listening find it's way to the heart and as we all know; GARBAGE IN, GARBAGE OUT. Be therefore careful about what you allow in you mind. Guard your heart with all diligence for it determines the course of your life. Prov 4:23

In the day of Judgment, we shall give an ACCOUNT OF EVERY IDLE WORD THAT WE SPEAK e.g the promises we make and never keep and all meaningless words in our conversation. Set right the thing you need to set right, for at the judgment you will not have such opportunity. Do it at the first opportunity.

For your words will be used to justify you or condemn you. Whether you did what you said you'd do or not.

An evil and adulterous generation seeks a miraculous sign; but the only sign given is the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. A generation only interested in miracles and not godliness is an evil generation

The preaching of Jonah led people to repentance but those who listened to Jesus did not repent and were only interested in the miracles that Jesus performed. Have you repented? Or are you only interested in what you can get from God?

When an unclean spirit is casted out of a man,if he does not fill that space with something good, the end result will be worse than the first. For example if you are delivered from murmuring and complaining,if you don't fill that with Thanksgiving, you will be a greater murmurer that you were at first.

If you read polluting literature and you don't replace it with reading Gods words and godly articles, you will fall in a deeper pit than you were before.

Once as Jesus was preaching, His parents and brothers probably came late for the meeting and found all the seats had been occupied and they sent one usher to tell Jesus that they were outside so that they would be given honour and some seat sought for them to sit Infront. But Jesus sermon wouldn't be distracted even by His parents, He said that all we who do His Fathers will are his father, mother, brother and sister and of course continued with the sermon.

Do you allow yourself to be distracted when doing God's will? Learn from Jesus.

MATHEW 12:1-21. THE MESSAGE OF THE GOSPELS

This begins with Jesus passing through the wheat field and His disciples plucking and eat and it was a Sabbath day. Pharisees begun accusing them saying they broke the law of Sabbath but Jesus defended His disciples saying David and his men ate food from the temple only meant for priests and were guiltless and the priest every Sabbath broke the sabbath and were guiltless. He desires that we show compassion on others not sacrifice. Being thoughtless lead to condemning the innocent.

Jesus is the Lord of Sabbath.

This is to teach us that we shouldn't be quick to judge and attribute a wrong motive when we see others doing something. We may not understand why. We should be merciful to others and seek to help them not condemn them.

Finding a man with a withered hand asked the Pharisees who on Sabbath did not pick up their sheep if fall in a pit on Sabbath; He said that human lives and well-being is more important than the sheep.

This should be our attitude, that being merciful on others is what God is looking for from us.

They began planning how to kill Him but Jesus went away from them. This teaches that we should not expose ourselves unnecessarily to danger when we are aware of them.

He healed many and STRICTLY AND SHARPLY warned them to make Him publicly known. He didn't want to be popular and known as a great healer and He was satisfied that people were healed. Here we see Jesus humility. Let us learn from Him. Not to seek greatness before the eyes of men but to live before God's face and seek seek only the approval of God for that alone matters. What's the use of being popular among people and being disapproved by God?

Everything Jesus did was to fulfill the scriptures.

Jesus never quarreled or shouted to anyone. Let us follow Him here.

No matter how much a man life has been destroyed and misused, however hopeless he maybe, Jesus saw hope in such. Let us also have this attitude, that the only person who's life cannot change is only one who is dead and buried but as long as someone is alive, there still hope.

Jesus speaks hope to the castaways and the rejected and the despised. Let us learn from Him. Let us speak hope to the hopeless and let us learn to encourage others.

MATHEW 11.

After the commission Jesus did not just sit and wait for the report but He Himself went on teaching and preaching. John sent His disciples to enquire whether He was the Messiah or they were to expect another. Remember that John said that He was the lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world and baptizes with the Holy Spirit and fire. Jn 1:29, Mat 3:11.

How comes He doubted? Because He thought He would overthrow the government and deliver him from prison but that was not the reason Jesus came, it was for a higher reason, Delivering us from the power of sin and manifesting the power of the kingdom of heaven through our lives.

When you get into problems, what do you do? Do you begin murmuring in your heart wondering why God has not delivered you? Instead of complaining, learn to pray and thank God.

Blessed is the one who is not offended in Christ; the way He runs His business;and in what He sometimes allows us to go through.

The miracles Jesus performed had been prophesied in Isaiah 35:5-6

Jesus speaking to the crowd after the messages went away asked them what they went to see when they went to hear John?

He declared him to be more than a prophet and of all born of women, there was none greater than him yet the least in the kingdom is greater than he. This I believe that in this dispensation we can experience the fullness of the Holy Spirit inside us which to transform us from the inside our heart which the old testament saints could not experience. They only experienced the Holy Spirit on them as a cloth because only Jesus could immerse us in the Holy Spirit.

From the days of the Holy Spirit until now the kingdom of God suffers violence and violent men take it by force. I understand this to mean that there is opposition from the devil which we have to violently resist to be able to experience all that God has in store for us in the heavenly places. God is a generous God. Jam 1:5 but the devil tries His best that we'll not experience all that God wants us to have. If we just sit and relax and think that "whatever will be will be", we'll in spiritual poverty all our lives but we'll only have ourselves to blame for God have given us authority over althe power of the devil. We have to use that authority and bind all the activities of the devil against us and we'll experience victory, peace and joy that lasts.

Only the wholehearted; those who refuse to live average Christian life who decides that they must receive all that God has for them will take violently amidst all opposition.

John was the last prophet but now God speaks to us from heaven through His Son Jesus Christ. Heb 1:1-2

He compares this generation as people who are always faultfinding hypocrites who never find anything good in what the servants of God do.

‘We played wedding songs, and you didn’t dance, so we played funeral songs, and you didn’t mourn.’For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon!’ The Son of Man, on the other hand, feasts and drinks, and you say, ‘He’s a glutton and a drunkard, and a friend of tax collectors and other sinners!’ But wisdom is shown to be right by its results.”

Are you always finding faults with those who are serving the Lord??? Resign from that business of fault finding and starting interceding.

We also see that Jesus miracles was a call to repentance.

In the same way, the gifts God gives us are to be calling others to repentance to using our spiritual gifts for selfish reasons.

God hides His word from the wise and prudent and revealing it to babes. The problem is not wisdom and prudence because it is God who gives usbut being proud of them making us despise others. Thus we see pride in anything makes us blind and incapable of receiving revelations from God. Whatever we have, we must acknowledge that it was given to us by God and therefore we have no reason for being proud or despising others who don't have it. Child are honest and sincere and most importantly is that they are humble. These are the qualities we have to possess if our spiritual vision is to remain clear.

Come to me all who are sick and tired of their defeated lives and you will find rest. Take my yoke and Learn humility and gentleness from Christ and you will find rest for our souls.

We see the reason for our defeat, a restless life, without joy and peace is that we are proud and hard in our dealings with others. Let us learn to be humble and not make demands on others, and deal gently on them even in their weaknesses and failures. Yoke yourself to Jesus and move in the direction He is moving and in the speed He is moving.

MATHEW 10. THE MESSAGE OF THE GOSPELS

Here Jesus begun by calling and summoning the disciples and He gave them power over all unclean spirits,to cast them out and heal all types of diseases.

He sent them in verse 5 to specifically the lost sheep of Israel and not to Gentiles or Samaritans.

This teaches that before Jesus sends anyone, He first empowers them by giving them authority. And when He sends someone, it's with a specific mission in a particular place.

Have you been empowered? Have you waited on Him to know specifically what He wants you to do and where He wants to do it?

He said to them, "You are to stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.” Lk 24:49

The message they were to preach was that the kingdom of God is at hand. We say earlier in  Mat 3:2,4:17 that this is preceded by repentance.

In the same commission, Mark 6:12, we see them going preaching that men should repent and turn from their sins and later on healed the sick and casted out demons.

They were freely given that authority and they were not to charge anything to those who were blessed by their ministry.

In this sending they were told not to carry anything, for the worker is worthy of His support. Later Jesus recalling this incident in Luke 22:35 asked them, “When I sent you out without money belt and bag and sandals, you did not lack anything, did you?” They said, “No, nothing.”

We see here as Hudson Taylor stated, Where God guides, He provides. If God have told you to something and you are sure about it and have been empowered through the Holy Spirit, even if you don't see everything that you may need along the way, obey as the disciples and your testimony will be the same with them, that you lacked nothing.

Those who receive them would be blessed, and would not go well with those who rejected them and their message.

They were sent as sheep among wolves. Thus there would be many who would try to take advantage of them and need to be wise as serpents in dealing with men but harmless as doves.

The disciples would be rejected in synagogues, equivalent to churches today. They and their message of repentance would be rejected in some churches, and even persecuted as criminals.

But they were not to premeditate on what they were to answer when falsely accused but that time they would be given by the Holy Spirit what to say.

Thus they were not to be distracted in their minds on concentrating on what to preach by thinking what to answer their critics. God would give them wisdom at that time not before.

Just like saying, when father wants to send his child to visit his grandparents in a far town, He will give fare to the child until that day on departure arrives. Not that He didn't have the money but that it would distract the child and maybe misused.

“A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a slave above his master. The disciple can be like His teacher...If Jesus was called the prince of demons, His disciples would be called by evil names also as they seek to obey Him and do His will.

They were to fear because God will one day expose all the accusations railed against them as false. Therefore they were to proclaim boldly the message they heard from God in their secret place.

They were to fear those who could kill their bodies and do nothing afterwards, but they were to fear God alone who could kill and cast them into hell. This is to say that their only concern was to be that they pleased God not men.

He expressed the great concern that God had for them; even a small bird cannot die without their Father knowing and we all know that it takes a lot of time before you see a dead bird. If God takes care of the birds that they rarely die, how much more will He care about you. If you are obeying God, you cannot die before your time.

He is concerned with little details of your life that He knows the number of each hair on your head. He will take care of you if you obey Him

If you acknowledge Him before men, He acknowledge you before the Father, and vice versa.

He didn't come to bring peace but division even in families, those who want to be His disciples must break their attachments even to family members who are not interested in being disciples. In other words, if Jesus wants to do something and your family is against it, you will obey Jesus rather than your family. You'll not hurt Jesus to please your family but you will please Jesus even if it means you will hurt your family members.

We must take our cross every day and follow Jesus. The cross has a vertical and horizontal bar. Horizontal means my way and will and desires, the vertical means God's way and will and desires. Every day I will have times when my will, or my way or my desires crosses God's will; to there, I will deny my will to do God's will.

For such a disciple, whoever receives Him will be blessed by His ministry and even the smallest thing you can do for Him like giving a cup of cold water will be rewarded by God.

MATHEW 9. THE MESSAGE OF THE GOSPELS

Jesus after crossing the other side of the lake, a paralyzed man was brought to Him and where He saw their faith, He said unto Him, your sins are forgiven.

This teaches us that some sickness are due sins and healing from such illness will only come after our sins are forgiven through repentance and faith.

The Scribes claimed that He blasphemed but Jesus seeing their thoughts asked them which was easier, to heal or to forgive; but that they may know He had power on earth to forgive He said unto the man to rise up and walk and When people saw that they glorified God.

It's amazing Jesus performed miracles in such a way that all Glory went to God. It's a challenge to us today. In our service to God and whatever God uses us to do anything, we can do it in a way it will not bring attention to us as 'the mighty servant of God' but all attention and glory will go to God.

Let's learn from Jesus

He went further and said to Mathew also called Leviwho was a tax collector, follow me. He wrote this book book and He wrote that Jesus was just eating in His house.

Luke writing the same incident in Luk 5:29 says that the Levi made A GREAT FEAST in his house. It's amazing these these bible characters are always seeking to hide behind the scenes themselves in whatever they do, and not to bring attention to themselves. Let us learn from them.

The Pharisees and scribes murmured again Jesus that He ate with sinners but He replied that those who are healthy don't need a doctor but only those who are sick. And He never came for the righteous but sinners to repentance.

Here we see that He equates those who are sick to sinners.

We can look it in another way; we see that He said that we are to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us and do good to them. Mat 5:44.

Those who hate us, who take advantage of us, who speak evil of us and persecute people are like sick people who are in ICU. If you go ICU and the patient there curses you and calls you all manner of evil and even threatens you, can you hate such a person? Definitely no. You will only have compassion on that person no matter how much they curse you or hate you or threaten you. He desires compassion not sacrifice. That's the secret. change your perspective and you will realise that Christ's commands to love our enemies and do good to them are not burdensome. 1John 5:3

The disciples of John came and asked why they fast but His disciples didn't and He answered that they cannot while the bridegroom is there but when He leaves they will.

He continues to say that no one patcheds new clothes in old garment or puts new wine in old wineskins.

In other words, the old way of doing right things and the new way of doing new things for example in fasting as mentioned in the context. Not doing it to be seen by men, or doing it legalistically, that is just to fulfill a duty and say I fasted today, or doing it just for the sake of doing or to get honour as the fasting machine but the new way of doing it is doing it for the glory of God alone and as a way to deepen your love with Christ and out of joy.

Jesus continued and someone came and knelt before Him asking Him to come raise his daughter from the dead.

This teaches us that if we go and humble ourselves before Christ, He will come. But if we are proud, He will turn deaf ear to our prayers.

A woman with the issue of blood said to herself that if she could only touch the hem of His garment she will be healed and Jesus said to her that her faith had made her well.

Inthe same way, God responds to faith; not your desires or God's ability for He can do many things, but it is faith that moves God's hand to action

The story of the two blind men teaches the same, ACCORDING TO YOUR FAITH BE IT DONE UNTO YOU.

Here see also Jesus warning them not to publicize what He did. He was not seeking honour for Himself and His desire was that God be glorified in all that He did. Let's have the same attitude, that in whatever I do, I don't want honour for myself, only that God would be glorified.

He casted out a demon and the Pharisees said that He casted out by Beelzebuls power, but this time He ignored them and continued healing others.

In the same way, we need to learn to ignore those who criticise us as we seek to serve God, and continue serving.

He looking at the multudes, He had compassion on them for they were like sheep without a shepherd. He said to His disciples the harvest is plenty but labourers are few; He told them not to go and harvest but to pray the the Lord of the harvest will send more labourers in His vineyard.

Therefore the NEED IS NOT THE CALL TO GO, BUT ITS IS THE CALL TO PRAY. It is God who sends nd there is no use of going if you are not sent because you will lack empowerment if you do so

MATHEW 8. THE MESSAGE OF THE GOSPELS

After the sermon on the mount, Jesus went down from the mountain and great crowds followed Him.

A leper came to Him and ask if He was willing to heal him and Jesus healed Him. A leper is a picture of a person living in sin. If such a person needs deliverance, He must first of all COME humbly to Jesus and admit that He cannot cleanse himself but Christ Himself must deliver Him from his sins, and only then will he find cleansing and deliverance through the blood of Christ

It's interesting as we see and continue to see in other places that Christ warned him not to make a public show of His healing but only go to the temple to give the offering that Moses commanded

The centurion also came to Him and this we mentioned in chapter 4. You check in the previous studies.

In vs 11 Jesus says that many will come from East and West and sit with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob but the sons will be cast out in the outer darkness where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

This is a warning of not being proud of our church or servants of God, if you live in sin and die in that condition even if you have lived as a son in the Church, you will be cast out in the final day.

Many who are despised because they have no good backgrounds or associations will finally enter because they humbled themselves

Jesus went to Peter's house and the mother in law had fever. When Jesus healed her she rose up and served Him

In the same way, there are many things that Christ does for us, the outcome should be that we serve Christ more wholeheartedly than before.

Jesus healed many who were such and demon possessed thus fulfilling Is53 He Himself bore our sicknesses and carried away our diseases. NB: this was fulfilled before He went to the cross

When He saw crowds, He gave orders that they may cross the other side. He left the crowd because He knew their interests were selfish and He was not impressed.

A scribe came to Him and He said that He didn't have a place to sleep

Another said that He will follow Jesus after burying His Father and Jesus said to Him no. If it was following Jesus, had to break the attachment that he had with His parents. see also. Mat 10:37, Lk 14:26-30

He got into a boat and His disciples followed Him and there was a storm but He was sleeping. But He was awakened and stilled the storm

If the disciples did not follow Christ, they would not have face the storm but neither could they experience the power of Christ stilling the storm

In the same sometimes when we follow Christ, we face storms. Thus it is not to say that we have disobeyed but the storm is an opportunity for us to experience the resurrection power of Christ

On reaching He met two demon possessed people in the cemeteries and no one passed there.

The demons begged Jesus to allow them enter the pigs and Jesus allowed it and when it was reported what happened and the pigs were mentio, they asked Jesus to leave the town.

In the same way we may face difficult situations that makes us even give up and 'never pass there', but God's power is such that nothing is impossible with Him, He can change anything no matter how destroyed that is.

Also, souls of men are more important to Jesus than the pigs, or the earthly wealth

MATHEW 7. THE MESSAGE OF THE GOSPELS

We should not judge others that we also might not be judged; for in the measure we judge others, we also will be judged.

Why should you worry about the speck in your brother's eye and not see the log in your eye. Get rid of the log in your eye that you may see well to take the speck out of your brothers eye.

The log is the wrong attitude to those who are fallen which says like the Pharisees, thank God I have not fallen like him/her...I do such and such ... _Luke 18:10-14_

If you get rid of the Pharisaical attitude you'll be merciful to your brother and be able to help Him out of the sin they are in.

Do not give that which is holy to dogs and pigs since they will trample them and then attack you

In other words, not everyone is interested in the gospel and you need discernment to know what to share with who. Otherwise you can share God's truth to 'dogs and pigs' and you get in unnecessary trouble.

Ask and keep on asking you'll receive, seek and keep on seeking and you'll find, knock and keep on knocking and the door will be opened

A son who asks bread or fish from father who is evil never receives stone or snake. What about our Heavenly Father; how much good things will He give to those who ask Him?

The message of the whole bible is that you treat others just the same way you want them to treat you

Enter the narrow way- the way mentioned from chapter 5 to 7

Only a few find this way of living.

Away from it is the wide way which majority prefer but do not realise that it leads to destruction

Beware of false prophets who come to you with the bible but they come to take advantage of you and also lead you to a life where you are comfortable living in sin.

A tree is known by it's fruits, you cannot pick a pawpaw from a thornbushes neither can you pick an orange from thornbushes.

A good tree produce good fruits and a bad tree produce bad fruit

The bad tree will be cut and thrown into the fire

Not every Christian who calls Jesus Lord, and is excited about it will inherit the kingdom of heaven.

It is only those who do the will of God in their lives who will enter

In that day many will bring a record of all their service they did in the church, the preaching, the gifts they exercised, and the works of charity...but they will be rejected because they lived in sin though they did all that.

Sin is a very serious matter that even if you live all your life serving God, in live in sin, you will be cast into hell in the last day. Repent and turn away from sin

The wise person is the one who obeys the teachings of Jesus and the foolish person is the one who is only excited in listening but does not practice what He learnt in the message of the Gospels.

When the temptations and challenges of life come, the wise person will remain standing and continue being true to Christ Knowing that God is still in control but the foolish will give up His faith or compromise and murmur against God and the circumstances not realising that it is His foundation of disobedience which is wrong

Thus let us have the right foundation of obedience to the message of the gospels

MATHEW 6. THE MESSAGE OF THE GOSPELS

Jesus continued teaching about the Righteousness that exceeds that of the Pharisees

The motive of practicing righteousness should not be to be seen by men and appreciated as great people in church, our giving should not be to seek honour from men otherwise there is no reward from the Father;

In our prayers and fasting as well, it should not be to seek a name for ourselves or honour before men, but secretly before our Father. We should seek attention in our service to God

In our prayers, we are praying to our Father in heavens, who controls every circumstance and situations affecting me:

Let that name be honoured and His will be done in earth as it's done in heaven. This means that God name is held in reverence and fear and His will is done and obeyed without delay and with and the angels take it as a great privilege to do God's will. What about you. Do you hold God's name in reverence and fear. Do take doing God's will as a privilege or as a burden?

Give us everyday what we need and forgive us our debts as we forgive those who forgive us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil : for to you belongs all Glory, power and the kingdom forever.

He says that if we do not forgive neither will we be forgiven

The tragedy of this is that you can live all your life in church finally because of unforginess, you'll discover your sins were not forgiven and you end up in hell

We should lay our treasures in heaven not on earth for where our treasures are there will our hearts be also.

The heart always follows the where we have kept the treasure: if we are to have a heavenly standpoint and if we are to view things from heavenly point of view, we must keep first our treasures there.

Your eye, which your conscience, is the lamp of the body, if your conscience is clear, your whole body will be full of light: but if you silence your conscience and go against it and ignore it pricking you, your whole life will be in darkness.

You cannot serve God and money

There are two words word for us to understand well what Jesus meant.

Master and servant

You have to be a master and a servant. A servant to obey and be given instructions and a master to direct and give guidance.

You either make God your Master and make money your servant, or you either make money your Master and you automatically make God your servant.

God has to tell you what to do and you have to tell money what to do and not vice versa. Not how much money you have but whether you have little or much, it has to be your servant. Just like you can employ a lot of servants but they have to remain servant. There would be a serious problem if that servant becomes the boss to whom you have to submit.

For this reason, don't be worried about food and clothes for God clothes the flowers and feed the birds.....but seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness

And everyday has enough troubles of its own.

MATHEW 5:13-48. THE MESSAGE OF THE GOSPELS

Jesus continued teaching that we are the salt of the earth but the salt is only the taste is there are we valuable. Our life is to be like the city set on a hill that cannot be hidden and this happens when obey what Has just mentioned.

That is constant dependence on God, mourning for our sins, being gentle, hungering and thirsting for Righteousness, being merciful, having a pure heart, being peacemakers and refusing to compromise matter the cost.

When our lives are like these, we will be salt that has not lost its taste and light that has not become darkness and once we start moving away from these qualities, we lose our taste and the light in us becomes darkness.

Let your light so shine before men that when they see your good works, they will only conclude that only God can do such a thing; it's not humanly possible.

Christ came to fulfill not to abolish the law. Heaven and earth will pass away but God's word will be fulfilled.

Whoever annuls the least commandment and teach others to do so shall be called the least in the kingdom and whoever obeys and teaches other to obey shall be called greatest in the kingdom.

It's impossible to enter heaven unless our righteousness exceed that of the Pharisees and scribes.

He explains how that righteousness is to exceed,

Physical murder was the standard of the Pharisees, but for Jesus, getting angry, and calling your brother good for nothing, and calling him , "You fool" will land you into hell fire

If you go to offer a sacrifice and remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift and go *FIRST* and settle matters with your brother and then come and offer your gift.

For the Pharisees the standard was physical adultery, but for Jesus, He says that if you lust after a woman you have already committed adultery with her

If any part of your body causes you to sin, get rid or radical in dealing with it lest you die and go to hell.

He continues to say that whoever marries one was was divorced commits adultery,

The standard of the Pharisees was that you must fulfill your vows but for Jesus your yes must be yes and your no no. In other words, you don't need to make a vow to make others believe what you are saying; your testimony should be that if you give a word it should be counted as done.

The Pharisees allowed revenge but for Jesus, you must never fight for yourself or revenge,

You must LOVE YOUR ENEMIES, and pray for those who persecute you to be like your Father in heaven who is equally good to the wicked and the righteous

You must not have a grudge against anyone .

MATHEW 4:12-5:12. THE MESSAGE OF THE GOSPELS

He Jesus entered ino the public ministry. What preceded was baptism of the Holy Spirit and temptation, in the same, before God commits a ministry we need two things; baptism in the Holy Spirit, and being tested and overcoming the tests. He went to Capernaum and that was to fulfill Isaiah's prophecy; and even now when we allow God to lead us, we will walk in the paths already predestined for us.

Jesus was a light to those who were in darkness and us as well, God will use us to bless others when we are submitted to Him .

Like John, Jesus preached repentance.

He begun calling His disciples and He went preaching and healing all kind of diseases and many who were sick were brought to Him.

Large crowds gathered and when He saw them, He went to the mountain and after sitting, His disciples came to Him and He begun teaching them.

Here we learn that although he performed many miracles, teaching the word of God was more important than performing miracles.

Blessed are those who are in constant need in their spirit for God's help- who's constant cry in their heart is "God unless you help me, I have no one else to help me" whose eyes are always on the Lord, for that is the key to everything in the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are those who mourn- constantly seeking to be delivered from their sins and unchristlikeness, for they shall be comfortable and made more Christlike as they continue judging themselves

Blessed are those who are gentle with their dealings with others, they shall inherit the earth

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst- constantly desiring to be made more holy and righteous, for their desire will be granted.

Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for in everything, they will see God

Blessed are the peace makers for they shall be called sons of God

Blessed are those who are persecuted because they refuse to compromise, they will enjoy righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Rom 14:17

Blessed are you when you are insulted, persecuted and falsely accused because you want to please Christ, rejoice and shout for joy for your reward is great in heaven.

THE TEMPTATIONS OF JESUS

 MATHEW 4:1-11

it begins with a very interesting statement

Jesus was led by the Spirit to the wilderness so that He can be tempted by the devil.

This is the author and finisher of our faith.

In the same way today's He allows us to be tempted by the devil.

Paul explains that the temptations that we face are COMMON to all humans and God will not allow us to be tempted beyond our ability but with every temptation He will make a way of escape that we may endure it. 1Cor 10:13

Jesus continued in prayer and fasting and that is why His ear was able to hear the voice of God and had a word from God for every situation.

In every temptation He had a verse meaning that He had hidden the word of God in His heart in His early days. In the same way, we have to hide God's word before hand so that whenever we face temptation, we will have a word to help us overcome. We must continue in prayer that our spiritual eyes and ears may not get blinded or blocked.

In the first temptation, Jesus was told to use His spiritual gifts to satisfy his hunger but he answered that that was not the way to live but only to hear what God's Voice said in every situation. God had not told Him to change stones into bread for Him to eat

In the same way, there are many ways that we can our gifts even to satisfy our legitimate needs but we need God's voice to guide us how to use whatever He has given us.

In the second temptation, Jesus was told to do something spectacular that would bring attention to Himself. Him jumping from the pinnacle and land unhurt like a magician. He said you shall not tempt the Lord your God. Even today the tells people to do things that will make people thinks that they are great men of God; some die for sickness refusing to go hospital thinking that those who go to hospital don't have faith.

God in His wisdom gave the apostle Paul Luke who was a doctor to be one of His coworker. He who had the gift of healing and many were healed through him, He himself was sick, some of His coworkers were sick, and after praying for Timothy and His sickness continued, Luke told gave him advice of taking little wine For his FREQUENT Sicknesses.

Gal 4:13, Phil 2:26-27, 2Tim 4:20, 1 Tim 5:23.

Here many have died before their time because they refused to go to hospital thinking they had faith.

Do not seek attention to yourself. Don't go to places you will be tempted and think that God will keep you from falling.

The third temptation Jesus was shown all the kingdoms of the world and their glory and told him that if He worships Him he would be given all that but Jesus said that He will only worship God and serve Him only.

Even today, the devil offers us many things only if we will compromise. He says we can repent later and not lose the opportunity but like Jesus, we should say to Him. Get behind me satan, for it is written, you shall Worship the Lord and serve only him.

The devil left him and the angels came and ministered to him

In the same way, ever temptation we overcome leads us to a deeper experience with God.

You are blessed to be a blessing

Mathew 3. THE MESSAGE OF THE GOSPELS

 THE MESSAGE OF THE GOSPELS

This begins with the preaching of John the baptist

His message was, 'Repent for the kingdom of God is at hand'. Unfortunately the message if repentance has been forgotten in today's preaching of the gospel. What people hear today is believe, but Jesus sent His disciples to preach repentance and faith, and genuine conversion only happens when one repents and believes, not otherwise.

Mat 4:17, 9:13, Mark 6:12, Lk 13:3, 24:47, Act 2:38, 3:19, 17:30, 20:21

The message of repentance is the one that prepares people for the coming of the Lord and straightening His paths

Many came to be baptized confessing their sins but when He saw the Pharisees and Sadducees coming He called the generation of poisonous snakes, asking them who warned them to flee from the wrath to come.

Thus we see that it is the message of repentance that makes people run away from God's judgements.

The Pharisees and Sadducees were the leaders in the synagogue and to them John the baptist preached repentance.

In the same way the message of repentance is to be preached even to those in church including the leaders; without exception.

He said that there must be fruit that show that you have truly repented.

Luke 3:10-14 explained more on the fruit saying that:- they should share with others who don't have what they have, not to take advantage of their position and exploit others, not to accuse others falsely, being content. And in the story of Zacchaeus learn also that repentance involves restitution:- that is returning things that are not rightfully ours. Luke 19:2-8

He also said that they should not boast in their ancestry.

In the same way, do not boast in your church, or your pastor or your good family background; the ax is in the trees of those who bear no fruit of repentance.

John also said that He could only baptized with water but Only Christ could baptized with the Holy Spirit. Even today only Christ can baptize you with the Holy Spirit.

He felt unworthy of even carrying Jesus' candles yet Jesus referred to Him as the greatest of all that are born of women. Mat 11:11

Another person who Jesus said had the greatest faith in Mat 8:8-10 is the centurion servant. He said he was unworthy that Jesus would come to His house.

Thus we can see here that the closer we come to the Lord, the more unworthy we will feel even to do anything for Him

It's the one who obeys EVERYTHING that Jesus commands that say I am unworthy servant Lk 17:10. But those who disobey God in many ways are most overconfident.

He said also that it is Christ who will separate the wheat from the chaff.

When Jesus came to be baptized, John tried to refuse but Jesus insisted that all Righteousness maybe fulfilled and it was then the heavens were opened and He was filled with the Holy Spirit and a voice said that this is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased .

In the same way, baptism is part of what Jesus told His disciples to do. Heavens open when we obey the call for that pleases God.

The voice also confirmed that the way Jesus lived in thirty years before baptism pleased God.

Before God commit to any a ministry, God will test you privately first, just like someone said; before you kill Goliath publicly, you have to kill the lion and the bear in private.

THATS MY KING JESUS

His office is manifold

His promise is sure

His life is matchless

His goodness is limitless

His mercy is everlasting

His love never changes

His word is enough

His grace is sufficient

His reign is righteous

His yoke is easy

and His burden is light

I wish I could describe Him to you

He’s indescribable

He’s indescribable

He’s incomprehensible

He’s invincible

He’s irresistible

I’m trying to tell you

The heaven of heavens cannot contain Him

Let alone a man explain Him

You can’t get Him out of your mind

You can’t get Him off of your hands

You can’t outlive Him

And you can’t live without Him

The Pharisees couldn’t stand Him

but they found out they couldn’t stop Him

Pilate couldn’t find any fault in Him

The witnesses couldn’t get their testimonies to agree

And Herod couldn’t kill Him

Death couldn’t handle Him

And the grave couldn’t hold Him

That’s my King!

He always has been

And He always will be

I’m talking about

He had no predecessor

and He’ll have no successor

There was nobody before Him

and there’ll be nobody after Him

You can’t impeach Him

and He’s not going to resign

That’s my King!

Praise the Lord

That’s my King

Thine is the Kingdom

And the power

And the glory

The glory is all His

Thine is the Kingdom

And the power

And the glory

For ever

And ever

And ever

And when you get through with all of the forevers

Then

Mathew 2 THE MESSAGE OF THE GOSPELS

It starts with the birth of Jesus.

When He was born, the wise men from the east saw His star and came to seek Him that the may worship Him. These men travelled a very long distance

In the same way, when we see the glory of Christ we will only desire to worship Him and we will be willing to pay any price to experience Him.

The reason most believers are not wholeheartedly living for Christ is because they have not seen His glory.

Herod hearing another king was born got disturbed and even went ahead to try to kill him.

In the same way, many who are older brothers and sisters in the Lord when they realise or hear that God is blessing another person more than them and that they have acquired more favor than they, feel threatened and begin to persecute them.

But God always delivers His chosen ones from such traps if they lay completely helpless in the hands of the Almighty God, Just like Jesus was helpless in the hands of Mary and Joseph.

The wise men knew that a king had been born and when they reached Jerusalem, they went to the palace to look for Him. But they were mistaken

They became wise in their eyes and lost their way. The star that led them also disappeared when they entered the palace.

In the same way, when we become wise in our own eyes and think that we know God's ways, we will be deceived but if we learn to trust in the Lord and not lean on our own understanding, God will always guide us in the paths we are to take. Prov 3:5-6

The star also may symbolize the word of God which is to lead us to the Glory of Christ. John 5:39, 2Cor 3:18, 4:6

Thus whenever we stop following Gods word, we will go astray but when we follow it, it will lead us to Christ, and when we see Christ, we will fall down and worship Him and give our very best to Him.

Since God had a plan for Jesus' life, He never allowed Him to die before His time. God warned His parents in a dream and they ran away.

In the same way, when we completely surrender to God, He will protect us from premature death, and He will warn us of dangers ahead and encourage us that He is still in control

THE MESSAGE OF THE GOSPELS. Mathew 1

Jsus before going to heaven said to His disciples to go and make disciples and TEACH THEM TO OBEY EVERYTHING HE TAUGHT. Mat 28:20

He also said that if anyone is ashamed of Him and HIS WORDS, He will be ashamed of him before His Father and the angels. Mark 8:38. Thus there is a need to know what is taught in the gospel so that we can obey and not be ashamed of Jesus' words.

In this series we will start from the book of Mathew onwards.

Mathew 1:1

Verses 1-17 gives us the genealogy of Jesus. It shows that God is interested in our family tree. He doesn't make a brief summary that Jesus was the son of David and Abraham but continues to mention the name of each individual. The same way God is interested in each individual.

Vs 18

It shows the birth of Jesus by the virgin Mary through the power of the Holy Spirit

Joseph being a righteous man did not want to disgrace her planned to send her away secretly but as he thought about it, God sent an angel to make Him know what had happened.

In the same way, if we are righteous, we will not want to disgrace others but will seek to cover their sins for love covers multitude of sins. 1Pet 4:8

The name JESUS means He will save HIS people FROM Their sins. vs 21, not in their sins. Thus His people will not continue to live in sin but will overcome sin. Rom 6:13,14, Jn 8:32, 2Pet 4:1-2, 1John 1John 3:9.

The purpose of this is fulfillment of what was prophesied by the prophets.

In the same way, God planned out lives and wrote it in a book. Ps 139:16 and everything that we are to do in our lifetime. Eph 2:10

If we yield completely to the leading of the Holy Spirit, God will fulfill in us and through us whatever He planned for us.

You are blessed to be a blessing

We will continue our study from there

THE WILL OF GOD POEM

The will of God will never take you,

Where the grace of God cannot keep you.

Where the arms of God cannot support you,

Where the riches of God cannot supply your needs,

Where the power of God cannot endow you.

The will of God will never take you,

Where the spirit of God cannot work through you,

Where the wisdom of God cannot teach you,

Where the army of God cannot protect you,

Where the hands of God cannot mold you.

The will of God will never take you,

Where the love of God cannot enfold you,

Where the mercies of God cannot sustain you,

Where the peace of God cannot calm your fears,

Where the authority of God cannot overrule for you.

The will of God will never take you,

Where the comfort of God cannot dry your tears,

Where the Word of God cannot feed you,

Where the miracles of God cannot be done for you,

Where the omnipresence of God cannot find you.
