After the sermon on the mount, Jesus went down from the mountain and great crowds followed Him.
A leper came to Him and ask if He was willing to heal him and Jesus healed Him. A leper is a picture of a person living in sin. If such a person needs deliverance, He must first of all COME humbly to Jesus and admit that He cannot cleanse himself but Christ Himself must deliver Him from his sins, and only then will he find cleansing and deliverance through the blood of Christ
It's interesting as we see and continue to see in other places that Christ warned him not to make a public show of His healing but only go to the temple to give the offering that Moses commanded
The centurion also came to Him and this we mentioned in chapter 4. You check in the previous studies.
In vs 11 Jesus says that many will come from East and West and sit with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob but the sons will be cast out in the outer darkness where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
This is a warning of not being proud of our church or servants of God, if you live in sin and die in that condition even if you have lived as a son in the Church, you will be cast out in the final day.
Many who are despised because they have no good backgrounds or associations will finally enter because they humbled themselves
Jesus went to Peter's house and the mother in law had fever. When Jesus healed her she rose up and served Him
In the same way, there are many things that Christ does for us, the outcome should be that we serve Christ more wholeheartedly than before.
Jesus healed many who were such and demon possessed thus fulfilling Is53 He Himself bore our sicknesses and carried away our diseases. NB: this was fulfilled before He went to the cross
When He saw crowds, He gave orders that they may cross the other side. He left the crowd because He knew their interests were selfish and He was not impressed.
A scribe came to Him and He said that He didn't have a place to sleep
Another said that He will follow Jesus after burying His Father and Jesus said to Him no. If it was following Jesus, had to break the attachment that he had with His parents. see also. Mat 10:37, Lk 14:26-30
He got into a boat and His disciples followed Him and there was a storm but He was sleeping. But He was awakened and stilled the storm
If the disciples did not follow Christ, they would not have face the storm but neither could they experience the power of Christ stilling the storm
In the same sometimes when we follow Christ, we face storms. Thus it is not to say that we have disobeyed but the storm is an opportunity for us to experience the resurrection power of Christ
On reaching He met two demon possessed people in the cemeteries and no one passed there.
The demons begged Jesus to allow them enter the pigs and Jesus allowed it and when it was reported what happened and the pigs were mentio, they asked Jesus to leave the town.
In the same way we may face difficult situations that makes us even give up and 'never pass there', but God's power is such that nothing is impossible with Him, He can change anything no matter how destroyed that is.
Also, souls of men are more important to Jesus than the pigs, or the earthly wealth
