MATHEW 23:29-39. THE MESSAGE OF THE GOSPELS

The Pharisees built the tombs of the prophets killed by their forefathers. They said to themselves, if they were there, they wouldn't have killed them. They condemned themselves as children of those who killed the prophets and thus Jesus told them to fill up the guilt of their fathers.

It's the same today, we praise the servants of God who sacrificed so much for the Lord and God used them greatly and we pity the sufferings they went through; and within ourselves, if we were there then, we would not have treated them thus; but the ones who are in our generation we condemn and find fault with calling them all manner of evil names.

We outwardly think we are better but inwardly committing the same sins. For example, many martyrs were killed physically but today we just kill with our tongue. We destroy the reputation of godly men but speaking evil of them yet we don't see that we are in the same categories of those who killed physically.

With such an attitude Jesus says there is no way we can escape hell.

Remember that these are people who went to church at that time many studied their bibles and some were leaders. Jesus said they will go to hell unless they repent of they hypocrisy and pride. Many preachers and people who read their bible will go to hell because of hypocrisy and pride. During the funeral we may praise them thinking that they went to be with the Lord but they were cast out. All their good works will not help them. No amount of good works can make up for even one sin. Sin is a very serious matter and have to be repented of.

Just as we saw earlier for example if you don't forgive, you will not be forgiven. If you have served God faithfully all your life but at the end of your life you develop bitterness and hatred towards someone who hurt you, if you don't forgive them before your die, you will not enter the kingdom of God.

Judgment will be merciless to those who show no mercy.

Jesus ended saying that they will not see Him again until they say, blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.

This means that unless we stop persecuting godly servants and speaking evil of them, the Lord will not reveal himself to us. This is one reason why the experiences of many Christians are dry, they have not experienced the Lord, they know not the fullness of joy and perfect peace in their personal lives. Learn to appreciate God's servant and bless them and you will see God reveal Himself quicker than you imagined. Use your tongue to bless not to curse, to speak good not evil.

You are blessed to be a blessing
