Jesus continued teaching that we should not seek revenge for ourselves nor should we fight back. We should help who seek help from us and we should treat others just the same way we want to be treated.
How do you treat others especially when they fail you? Do you want to be forgiven if you fail someone? Forgive those who fail you. Do you want others to be patient with you and bear with your weaknesses? Be patient with others in their weaknesses. Do you want others to correct you harshly or with mercy and love? Correct others with mercy. Do you want others to speak rudely to you? Never speak rudely to others.
In everything you do, learn to put yourself in the other person's shoes and treat them the same you would want to be treated if you were in their position and have done what they did whether good or evil.
Sinners love those who love them, you love even those who hate you and are ungrateful. That shows you are a child of God not a sinner.
Are you a child of God? Do you only love those who love you? Do you do good to those who hate you? Are you jealous or embittered against those who hate you or have you forgiven them? A child of God is seen in their attitude to those who hate them and those who are ungrateful.
Be merciful just like your Father in heaven; that is merciful towards sinners and righteous.
Don't judge and you'll not be judged. Don't condemn and you'll not be condemned. Forgive and you shall be forgiven.
We learn here that God will treat us exactly the way we treat others. We ourselves will receive the same measure from God, pressed down, shaken together what we give to others, whether it be judgment, condemnation, mercy or forgiveness, doing good and in every way, how we treat others.
How do you want God to treat you?
Do you want Him to always be finding faults with you, criticizing you and judging you for every little thing? Or do you want God to be merciful to you, be patient and bear with your weaknesses, love you and do you good and always forgive you and never dwell on your sinful past? You yourself choose how God will treat you, and you should not complain when God treats you the way you treat others.
A blind cannot lead a blind. Both will fall into a ditch.
A disciple is not above his master. But if fully trained they will be like His teacher.
This means that before God can use you to open the eyes of others, He must open yours first. God must work in you before He can work through you to help others. He must teach you before He can teach others and God will only work through you only to the measure He has been able to work in you and no further. When you see your faults and God helps overcome, you are able to remove the log in your eye which is the wrong attitude and judgemental spirit towards others who have failed because you'll remember you were in the same pit the other person is and you'll be able to help them out of it.
You can never help someone overcome something you see is wrong in them if your attitude towards them is wrong. The wrong attitude towards a person is a log compared to their speck no matter what the other person's sin is. For example if someone commits fornication, that is a sin that need to be repented of but if your attitude towards the person who has fallen is not of mercy to try to restore the person back in fellowship with God, the wrong attitude makes you a greater sinner than them. In Luke 18:10-14, Jesus taught that those who trust in themselves that they are righteous because they fast, and give tithes and help other but despise others who steal, commit adultery and take advantage of others; the sin of despising those who are fallen is greater than the sins the fallen person committed. What's your attitude towards the fallen, is it if mercy or condemnation?
Learn this, that what God requires from you is that you be merciful, and when you learn that, you will not condemn the innocent. Math 9:13, 12:7
