Teach me Your way, O Lord; I will walk in Your truth; Unite my heart to fear Your name. Grant me purity of heart, so that I may honor you. Ps 86:11
The psalmist has a cry in his heart to God, "unite my heart to fear your name". This should be our constant cry in our hearts too, that God gives us a heart that fears Him.
And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.
I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances.
Ezek 36:26-27
This passage shows that the nature man and nature of man is stubborn and hard towards God. Paul says that the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot. Rom 8:7
Since the whole nature of man is opposed to God, we must cry to God that He may take away our stony hearts and give us hearts of flesh that will be responsive to Him and that will receive the fear of God.
David cries out, Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right steadfast spirit within me. Psalm 51:10.
He understood that God had to work in Him, but he also must submit and surrender completely for God requires surrender before working in His people.
You cannot change yourself but God can change you and give you a brand new heart that will fear Him. You must surrender and also ask Him to give you a heart of flesh, a heart that will fear Him.
Jer 32:39-41
and I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear Me always, for their own good and for the good of their children after them. I will make an everlasting covenant with them that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; and I will put the fear of Me in their hearts so that they will not turn away from Me.
I will rejoice over them to do them good and will faithfully plant them in this land with all My heart and with all My soul.
“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. Mat 7:7-8
Ask God for such a heart.
You are blessed to be a blessing
