Many were asking whether the man was really the one who was blind. Some said yes, others said he looks like him, but he himself said he was the one.
They asked him how his eyes were opened and He explained to them that.
Even in an obvious thing like this, the human nature always loves to argue and everyone wants to win the argument. Don't waste time in argument; at the end of it you should ask yourself; what have I benefited in the argument? Has it helped me become holier or more godly?
The man was taken to the Pharisees and they asked Him the same question. Even among the Pharisees, some said he was not offended God for breaking the Sabbath others asked if it were possible for a wicked man to perform such a notable miracle. The blind man when asked what he thought of Jesus said He was a prophet. They called his parents to enquire about him. The parents confirmed he was their son who was born blind but how he saw only he could tell.
The parents feared being put out of synagogues if they confessed Jesus as Messiah.
We learn here religion can blind you and bring you into bondage of fear.
Has God done something for you and you are afraid to give a testimony because your church does not believe such things?
They declared to the man that Jesus is a sinner but he said he didn't know, but what He knew is that though he was blind, now he can see. This is a good reply to give to those who try arguing against what the Lord has done for us.
He even asked them whether they wanted to follow Jesus but they said they followed Moses.
The Pharisees could not accept Jesus because he didn't keep their church traditions. Even today, the Pharisees will not accept any child of God who may have a different way of doing things than their church practice. We must try to learn to be largehearted and receive others who are different in minor things; though we may not be able to work together.
The man said that we know that God does not listen to sinners, but whoever fears and worships and does His will, of such, He hears.
If you are indulging in sin in private, and pray, God will not listen to you unless you are repenting and have made up your mind to stop sinning.
When we are true worshippers; Rom 12:1, tells us that true worship is giving our body as living sacrifices and holy to God. Rom 6:13 puts it as, "Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God."
If every part of your body you use it in holiness, whether tongue, eyes or hands... you are a true worship; and if you have set your mind and decided that you will do God's will in everything; when you pray, God will hear you. If you are undecided in doing God will or your own will, though you may not be committing obvious sin, God will not hear you.
We learn hear that the secret to God always listening to your prayers is surrendering completely to God to live a holy life and determination to do God's will in everything.
Do you wonder why God does not answer some of your prayers? Now you know.
You are blessed to be a blessing
