JOHN 19:19-30 THE MESSAGE OF THE GOSPELS

On the cross it was written, Jesus of Nazareth, the king of the Jews. Everyone read it, and that was to be a mockery, but we know that He conquered death, and sin, and it's through this death, that He conquered the devil and wrought salvation for the whole world. Indeed, He is the King of kings.

The chief priests wanted Pilate to change the writing but he refused. The Pharisees always were very good in finding fault. They found fault in everyone. They demanded that Jesus be crucified and even when that was granted, they were very quick to see some little that that didn't matter they thought it shouldn't be that way.

The nature of man is to concentrate on the one little wrong thing they find and forget the other 99good things. A disciple ought to be different.

The soldiers divided the outer garments but for the inner tunic which was seamless, they threw lots. It was a very expensive under garment that He had.

It's not wrong to wear expensive clothes, but it's evil to despise others who have not. Jesus seeing His mother and John, He told Mary that John was now His son, and told John that Mary was now His mother, and John took her into his home.

Jesus, knowing all things were at hand, said that He was thirsty and they put a sponge in sour wine and gave Him. This was the only way they could give it to Him since on the cross, He was on a higher elevation than them. Jesus then said that it was finished.

So what was finished? His earthly life which He lived to fulfill His task on earth. It was to be concluded with the cross.

✓The price for our son was paid for our sin was fully paid

✓ His death reconciled us back to God. Rom 5:10

✓ He took us into His death, the old man, who only wanted to sin, was crucified with Christ, so that we will live in the newness of life. Rom 6:4-5.

✓ His death was to put an end to trusting in ourselves but in God who raises the dead. 2Cor 1:9.

✓ It was the gateway to experience God's power of resurrection. Phil 3:10

✓ It was through His death that He destroyed the devil and took away His armour. Heb 2:14, Col 2:14-15.

The devil is alive but is without weapons of war. He has no place in the lives of true disciples unless we give him a place for Him through sin. 1John 5:18, Eph 4:27.

The place God has appointed for the devil is under our feet. Rom 6:20.

We need not live in fear any longer. Heb 2:15.

Our saviour on the cross overcame sin, death and the devil and every accusation of the devil against us. You need not sign a peace treaty with satan. He is already conquered. Enter and enjoy the victory of Christ. It's all yours.

You are blessed to be a blessing
