KNOWING CHRIST VII

STUDY VII Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’ Mat 7:22-23 When the master of the house has locked the door, it will be too late. You will stand outside knocking and pleading, ‘Lord, open the door for us!’ But he will reply, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from.’ Then you will say, ‘But we ate and drank with you, and you taught in our streets.’ And he will reply, ‘I tell you, I don’t know you or where you come from. Get away from me, all you who do evil.’ In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God but you yourselves cast out. Luke 13:25-28 We see here that it's is not a mere calling Jesus that is enough. To say Jesus is Lord, is to be doctrinally correct. To say Lord, Lord , is to be emotional excited. Therefore, you can be doctrinally correct and emotionally excited about the Lordship of Christ and the truths of the bible and still not know Christ personally. We also see that you can attend fellowships and bible studies and still not know Christ. The most important question on the last day will not be based on what you did for the Lord, but your relationship with Him. This is what the Lord says: “Don’t let the wise boast in their wisdom, or the powerful boast in their power, or the rich boast in their riches. but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord who exercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things,” declares the Lord. Jer 9:23-24 We see that it's not in our accomplishments that we should boast. The only thing worth boasting is not wisdom, riches or power but truly knowing the Lord. All that we can acquire in this world have not eternal value. Only knowing the Lord is worth pursuing. It is our knowing of the Lord that gives eternal value to what we do for the Lord. Paul says that everything we do will be tested by fire. Only gold and silver and precious stones will remain. This means only the work whose origin is God, which is done through God's power and done for God's glory.... Only such work will remain and all others will go up in smoke. Such knowledge only comes through knowing Christ intimately. It's only then you can hear him and act based on what He has initiated, through the power of the Holy Spirit and for God's glory and honour. How much are you seeking to know Christ personally. Remember to that being doctrinally correct does not mean you know Him. Being excited about the things of God doesn't mean you know Him, attending church fellowships and activities doesn't mean you know Him. To know Him you must cultivate spending time in His presence; being alone with Him. It's easy to be with others than with God, but if we are to know Him, we must spend time alone with Him.
